The Palestinian militant group Hamas released a one-minute and 42-second video on Thursday evening featuring the Berkeley-born American and Israeli citizen, who was killed last week along with five other Israeli hostages in a tunnel under the Gaza Strip.
They had been held for almost 11 months, kidnapped by Hamas attackers in the early hours of the war. In the undated video, Goldberg-Polin says she hopes to see her family again.
The Israeli authorities said the six hostages had been shot dead by their captors last Thursday or Friday, while Israeli forces were carrying out an operation nearby in the town of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip. The announcement of the discovery of the bodies and the confirmation of the identities of the six hostages sent the country into mourning.
The murders sparked massive street protests, with demonstrators demanding that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conclude a ceasefire agreement to free dozens of Israeli prisoners believed to be alive in Gaza.
Hamas has frequently used such videos during the war. The Israeli government has denounced these videos as crude propaganda, aimed at demoralizing and dividing the country.
